Firstly, I am very glad to represent the Humanistic Olympics Studies Center of Renmin University of China and also the university, warmly welcome your attending the International forum for 2004 conference of Beijing 2008 Olympics!

The Humanistic Olympics Studies Center of Renmin University of China was formally established on Oct. 21st, 2004. It is a relatively independent academic research organization directly under RUC and specially pursuing studies of Humanistic Olympics. In the Center, there is a powerful vigorous studying collective made up of high-level scholars with seniority and prestige, and youth academicians with active and fresh ideas. And the academic committee of the center is now undertaking some studies content with the connotation of Humanistic Olympics, the communication and cooperation between Chinese culture and foreign nations’ cultures in the context of Humanistic Olympics and Globalization, etc.

We hope that, through this International forum for 2004 conference of Beijing 2008 Olympics, we can learn some successful experience of hosting Olympic Games from other countries, promote the communication and cooperation between Chinese culture and foreign nations’ cultures, provide academic and intellect supports for the successful holding of 2008 Beijing Olympics, and then boost the world-wide spread of the Olympic spirit.
