      Conference Introduction
 

The International Forum on the Beijing 2008 Olympics Games is co-hosted by Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) and the Humanistic Olympic Studies Center (HOSC, also known as Beijing Olympic Research Base) of Renmin University of China. As the only academic event in the Beijing Olympic Cultural Festival, which has been held by BOCOG every year since 2003, the forum has been successfully held five times. Scholars, officials and athletes from more than 10 countries have attended the forums. They delivered speeches and provided advice for the preparation of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games these past five years.

In August 2008, the XXIX Olympiad is coming to Beijing. In June, BOCOG will hold the 6th Beijing Olympic Cultural Festival. Co-hosted with BOCOG, HOSC will hold the 6th International Olympic Forum with the theme of Great Breakthrough: Olympic Theories and Practices of Olympics in the East.

Considering your great reputation on the Olympic research field, the organizing committee sincerely invites you to represent the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design with a presentation on Olympic Art and Design projects completed over the past years.? Central to the presentation should be images and information about the"Spirit of Place-Culture, Sport, Sustainability- British Columbia Young Artists Exhibition co presented by the 2008 Cultural Olympiad in Vancouver last winter.? We look forward to hearing about your plans for the global exhibition for 2010.
